Sligo Walking Holiday

Over the years, Auriel has built up an excellent reputation for expert service being delivered to domestic and international visitors to Sligo.

Charm

This year, she is offering a wonderful bespoke walking package where she will organise your itinerary. She recommends that you stay at an incredibly charming, historic guesthouse in a pretty, rural part of the County which is steeped in history. The family who run this guesthouse have been here for centuries and are wonderful hosts. Not only will you be able to walk into their historic home and marvel at the incredible artefacts, tapestries, paintings and memorabilia, but you can enjoy their gorgeous garden where a river runs past.   Soak up the farm land atmosphere where deer graze happily on front of your eyes! The home cooking is incredible, you won’t believe the excellent quality and exquisite presentation!

Auriel will be your expert guide throughout the few days. She will design a specific itinerary of walks and heritage site visits for you each day. You will explore megalithic tombs, ancient monastic and castle sites, fascinating caves, and coastal heritage sites and landscapes.  You can relax in the evenings by a roaring fire in one of the most charming drawing rooms in the country! Dining is a special experience too so enjoy being served in this remarkable setting.  On one of the nights, you will have the option to head into lively Sligo Town where you can enjoy the vibrant nightlife or an Irish trad music session and a good meal in one of the many excellent restaurants.

Relaxing

Sligo Town is so quirky, Auriel can also take you on a guided walking tour here and introduce you to the locals and a few notable shop owners. The river Garavogue flows through the town which creates a lovely atmosphere and you can sit out at a Café here and soak up the friendly atmosphere. There are lots of festivals on during the summer too so you will really get a good feel for the place.

‘We have joined Auriel on a number of walks in and around the historic/archaeological areas Sligo over the last few years and could not recommend her walks highly enough. Informative, interesting and always well researched. If you are in Sligo and are looking for a brilliant day out I wouldn’t hesitate to contact her. I am thinking of learning to ride a horse to be able to join one of her horse treks.’Pat D, Aug 2019.
