Join expert Archaeologist guide, Auriel Robinson of Seatrails on a fascinating evening walk to the incredible prehistoric tombs at Carrowkeel in Co. Sligo. These Neolithic passage Graves are hugely significant ancient burial places of early Irish farmers, dating to c 3000 BC. This walk is inspiring and enlightening. One of these tombs was specifically aligned with the setting sun on the solstice every year. You will be shown this by your guide and she will explain the whole landscape to you. It is advised to bring a flask for a hot drink if you want to wait until sun sets at 10pm and some snacks.

You need your own car to get to the starting point and to return. Once you have booked and provided your email address, Auriel will send you more info on the meeting point. Carrowkeel is c 25 mins drive from Sligo Town. This is an evening hike so bear that in mind if bringing children (not under 8 years). It is advised to wear warm clothes and a hat as it gets windy at the tombs and hiking boots are recommended but not absolutely necessary at this time of year.
